This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.
• Collaborate with Sales to articulate Mapbox’s technical value and identify opportunities.
• Conduct technical discovery to grasp customer objectives, requirements, and success criteria, ensuring that solution designs align with business goals.
• Create and present scalable architectures utilizing Mapbox SDKs, APIs, and platform services.
• Address technical customer inquiries (RFI/RFQ) with comprehensive technical documentation and solution proposals.
• Offer technical support during the pre-sales phase and deliver rapid technical enablement through workshops, demonstrations, and PoC/PoV in a fast-paced digital customer landscape.
• Enhance customer success by speeding up time-to-value and facilitating adoption and growth within a dynamic, complex ecosystem.
• Champion customer needs and provide structured feedback to influence product and engineering strategies.
• Keep abreast of advancements in mapping, mobility, and AI technologies, sharing best practices both internally and with clients.
• Over 5 years of experience in solutions architecture, customer-facing engineering (pre-sales, post-sales), or consulting.
• Proficient in both Japanese and English (written and verbal communication).
• Must be based in Japan.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (preferred).
• Familiarity with web and mobile technologies (JavaScript, Android, iOS).
• Experience in developing applications that connect back-end APIs with front-end SDKs.
• Background in GIS, location intelligence, geospatial data, and mapping is an advantage.
• Experience with leading cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is advantageous.
• Familiarity with AI technologies is a plus.
• Proven experience in leading technical responses for RFI/RFQ and crafting detailed technical proposals.
• Strong business insight and ability to work independently across distributed teams.
• Demonstrated capability to convert complex requirements into scalable, robust architectures that meet customer objectives.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with both technical and executive audiences, along with a proven track record of influencing executive, product, engineering, and developer stakeholders.
• Experience working collaboratively with OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers.
• Understanding of the Automotive industry and its ecosystem technologies such as navigation, autonomous driving, ADAS, ISA, and software-defined vehicles.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% for customer meetings, workshops, and industry events.
