This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.
• Take ownership of Nerdio's internal research and development roadmap focused on AI, automation, and tooling — transforming business challenges across the organization into functional prototypes and, when suitable, production-quality internal systems.
• Regularly assess new AI models, frameworks, SDKs, and developer tools; determine what should be embraced and what should be rejected.
• Maintain a streamlined prototype-to-production process: quickly deliver, evaluate, refine, and discontinue what isn't effective.
• Create and develop AI agents and agent-based workflows — encompassing multi-agent orchestration, tool/function invocation, MCP integrations, and RAG pipelines.
• Develop AI-driven internal tools that enhance specific processes (engineering, sales, support, operations, compliance).
• Establish patterns, guidelines, and reference architectures for the development and deployment of AI within Nerdio.
• Construct and manage full-stack internal web applications from start to finish — generally utilizing TypeScript / Node.js for the backend, modern React or similar for the frontend, and PostgreSQL or a comparable database for data handling.
• Deploy and manage applications on Microsoft Azure (App Service, Container Apps, Functions, ACR, Key Vault, Entra ID).
• Oversee the continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) process: managing GitHub Actions pipelines, environment configurations, secret management, and ensuring quality releases for all internal applications.
• Share responsibility for Nerdio's internal data warehouse alongside data engineers — covering architectural guidance, data quality, access patterns, and integration with downstream AI and reporting applications.
• Serve as the technical lead for the Corporate Development team: establish technical direction, evaluate key designs and pull requests, and make definitive decisions on architectural trade-offs.
• Mentor team members and cross-departmental colleagues on the effective utilization of AI development tools — including Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, and agentic frameworks — focusing on prompting strategies, workflow design, and instances when to refrain from using them.
• Act as an advocate for the Corporate Development team within Nerdio: actively promote the team's initiatives so that other teams are aware of, adopt, and request further collaboration.
• A minimum of 3 years of professional software engineering or equivalent technical experience.
• Proficient full-stack development capabilities in TypeScript/JavaScript and at least one scripting language (Python, PowerShell, or Bash).
• Proven experience in designing and delivering AI-powered applications — ideally including agentic systems, tool utilization / MCP, RAG, or LLM-driven automation.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure as a deployment platform, including App Service/Container Apps/Functions, networking, and identity management (Entra ID).
• Strong CI/CD practices using GitHub (or a similar platform) — including creating and maintaining pipelines, managing environments, and upholding release quality standards.
• Familiarity with relational databases and data warehousing concepts; comfortable working with data engineers on warehouse design and data integrity.
• A demonstrated history of leading small, senior technical teams — whether as a team lead, tech lead, or principal engineer with leadership duties.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English; capable of articulating technical decisions to both engineering and non-technical stakeholders.
