This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.
• Define and lead the overarching test architecture and automation strategy across various teams and services.
• Design, develop, and enhance scalable and maintainable test automation frameworks utilizing tools such as Playwright, Selenium, and contemporary testing libraries.
• Establish best practices for automated testing across all levels (unit, integration, API, UI, performance, and end-to-end).
• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate testing into the development lifecycle, ensuring comprehensive test coverage and rapid feedback loops.
• Incorporate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to facilitate continuous testing and dependable deployments.
• Partner with Architects and Engineering Leads to guarantee that test strategies are in line with system architecture, encompassing both microservices and monolithic applications.
• Define and execute strategies for testing distributed systems, including event-driven and asynchronous architectures.
• Utilize AWS services and cloud-native patterns to bolster scalable and efficient test execution.
• Drive enhancements in test reliability, execution speed, and maintainability.
• Establish standards for observability and reporting on test results, quality metrics, and release readiness.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and QE professionals on automation best practices.
• Assess and introduce new tools, frameworks, and methodologies to enhance quality engineering capabilities.
• Ensure that testing methods comply with security, compliance, and data protection standards (e.g., GDPR, PII handling).
• Identify quality risks, gaps, and areas of technical debt, and drive strategies for remediation.
• Foster a culture of quality ownership, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence across teams.
• Over 10 years of experience in software testing, quality engineering, or test automation, with substantial experience in an architectural or leadership capacity.
• Proficient programming skills in Java, TypeScript, Python, or similar languages utilized for creating automation frameworks.
• Extensive experience with modern test automation tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, Robot Framework, or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of performance testing utilizing tools like locust, k6, or JMeter.
• Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing scalable automation frameworks across multiple teams or products.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and the integration of automated testing into build and deployment workflows.
• Practical experience testing distributed systems, including microservices and monolithic architectures.
• Experience working with AWS and cloud-native environments.
• Comprehensive knowledge of API testing, UI testing, performance testing, and test data management strategies.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is highly desirable.
• Understanding of event-driven systems and messaging platforms (Kafka, SNS/SQS, etc.) is a plus.
• Strong grasp of observability practices (metrics, logging, tracing) as they pertain to testing and quality.
• Experience with security and compliance considerations in testing (GDPR, PII, etc.).
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across teams.
