• Collaborate with Customer Success Managers and Account Executives to convey the Honeycomb value proposition, vision, and strategy at both executive and technical levels.

• Develop expertise in Sampling practices and the operations of our Refinery sampling, providing guidance to customers on sampling strategies that balance cost, fidelity, and operational insights.
• Engage directly with, teach, coach, and mentor engineering teams and leaders in Observability, Site Reliability Engineering concepts, and best practices for instrumentation.
• Counsel customers on establishing and evolving telemetry ownership and standards within their engineering teams, including the development of internal documentation, naming conventions, and scalable attribution practices.

• Produce high-quality, reusable materials including trainings, presentations, blog posts, white papers, demonstrations, and reference architectures.
• Advocate for the customer’s perspective in internal meetings with Engineering and Product Management, sharing pattern-level insights from the field.
• Keep informed about Honeycomb technologies, product offerings, and the wider observability ecosystem.
• Profound knowledge of OpenTelemetry, including its projects, components, SDKs, and ecosystem, along with the capability to guide customers through intricate instrumentation choices.
• Strong intuition regarding how telemetry data should be modeled and organized, understanding what constitutes a useful event schema versus a noisy one, as well as considering cardinality and designing for long-term queryability.
• Ability to comprehend an application's architecture and flow sufficiently to instrument it effectively and provide advice to others undertaking the same task.
• Familiarity with popular cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm), and CI/CD platforms and practices (CircleCI, GitHub Actions, etc.).
• Prior experience in Software Development or System Operations, with a strong preference for candidates who have worked on large-scale distributed systems.
• Proficiency in at least one of the following: Ruby, Python, Go, JavaScript, Java, or .NET, with familiarity in multiple languages and/or frameworks being a significant advantage.
• Exceptional written and verbal technical communication skills, with the ability to tailor content depth and framing for both engineering teams and technical leadership.
• A share in our success - generous equity through an employee-friendly stock program.
• Our compensation is based on transparent levels relative to experience, so negotiation strength is not a factor.
• Ample time to recharge with unlimited PTO.
• A culture that prioritizes a distributed-first mindset (truly!).
• Stipends for home office setup, co-working spaces, and internet expenses.
• Comprehensive benefits coverage for employees, with additional options available for dependents.
• Up to 16 weeks of paid parental leave, irrespective of the path to parenthood.
