This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
β’ Take ownership of the complete backend architecture: event-driven core, Postgres partitioning, durable eventing patterns, and multi-tenant scalability.
β’ Create APIs, define microservice boundaries, and establish service contracts for a high-throughput, multi-tenant platform.
β’ Develop the AI integration layer: a foundation for RAG, asynchronous classification, and various AI applications.
β’ Lead technical phasing across multiple product stages (foundations β review workflows β external delivery β search/AI β migration).
β’ Collaborate with platform architects to ensure alignment with company-wide standards (eventing, observability, deployment).
β’ Guide a team of 4β5 engineers technically β conducting design reviews, code reviews, and enhancing the engineering standards.
β’ Support and mentor junior engineers β collaborate on challenging problems, facilitate learning sessions, provide actionable feedback, and create clear pathways for their advancement to senior roles.
β’ Manage production health β SLOs, runbooks, and incident postmortems.
β’ Over 10 years of backend engineering experience, including 5+ years in Python (or a strong polyglot background in Python/Java).
β’ Proven production experience with asynchronous Python (FastAPI / asyncio) at scale.
β’ Proficient in API design β REST/gRPC, versioning, schema evolution, and backward compatibility.
β’ Knowledgeable in microservices and distributed systems β understanding service boundaries, contracts, eventing patterns, idempotency, and outbox/saga.
β’ Strong expertise in PostgreSQL β partitioning, complex queries, replication, and performance tuning.
β’ Experience in scaling and performance β capacity planning, caching, query optimization, and balancing latency/throughput trade-offs.
β’ In-depth AWS knowledge β ECS/EKS, S3, SNS/SQS, Aurora, IAM, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
β’ Familiarity with observability and production ownership β metrics, tracing, on-call responsibilities, SLOs, and postmortems.
β’ Experience in leading project-level technical direction for over 12 months with measurable outcomes.
β’ A successful track record of grooming and mentoring junior and mid-level engineers β guiding them from execution-level tasks to ownership of design and delivery.
