
Senior Solutions Architect – AI & Platforms SME

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.
• In this role, you will function as an AI Subject Matter Expert (SME) with an emphasis on Platforms.
• Lead the technical discovery process, design architecture, conduct demonstrations, and perform comprehensive evaluations (POC/POV) to confirm GitLab as the preferred AI-powered DevSecOps platform for both prospects and customers.
• Spearhead AI-centric solution strategies as the team's AI SME, including competitive positioning and justifications for business value.
• Take ownership of the technical strategy and influence Customer Success Plans for designated accounts, serving as the “technical CTO” to steer multi-team, multi-year transformation projects throughout the DevSecOps lifecycle.
• Work collaboratively with Sales, Customer Success, Product Management, Engineering, and Marketing to develop account strategies, contribute to territory planning, and ensure effective platform adoption.
• Provide expert technical guidance during the pre-sales phase, including support for tenders and audits, workshop design, and addressing complex integration and implementation challenges.
• Act as the voice of the customer by converting real-world feedback into actionable product requirements, improvements in documentation, and inputs for the roadmap, particularly focusing on AI, security, and platform capabilities.
• Develop and disseminate reusable technical resources such as reference architectures, working examples, best practice guides, and internal training materials to enhance impact across various regions.
• Mentor fellow Solutions Architects, contribute to global initiatives for the Center of Excellence, and establish yourself as an external industry authority through thought leadership, participation in standards, and cultivating ecosystem relationships.
• Possess expert knowledge of the key strategic elements of GitLab's product and customer personas while equipping the field with essential domain expertise.
• Have extensive hands-on experience with AI, including designing or implementing AI-driven solutions, providing advice on AI adoption, or serving as an AI SME for clients or internal teams.
• Demonstrated experience in technical pre-sales, software consulting, or similar positions that link complex technology to business results.
• Solid background in contemporary software development or operations, encompassing CI/CD, DevSecOps methodologies, and related tools.
• Familiarity with cloud computing concepts and architectures, as well as how cloud services integrate into secure and scalable application delivery systems.
• Capability to design and articulate technical architectures that encompass multiple teams and different phases of the software lifecycle, from initial planning to monitoring.
• Proficiency in leading technical evaluations and workshops (such as proofs of value or solution design sessions) with a wide range of stakeholders, from engineers to executives.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management abilities, allowing you to act as a trusted advisor and champion for customers across sales, product, and engineering teams.
• Willingness to learn and grow, with a history of acquiring new skills over time; candidates with transferable experience in adjacent areas (such as security, data, or cloud architecture) are encouraged to apply.
