This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.
• Take ownership, manage, and enhance Playson’s Game Engine domain.
• Collaborate on internal frameworks and libraries that mathematicians utilize to implement game logic and mathematical packages.
• Review and verify code produced by mathematicians to ensure quality, accuracy, maintainability, and appropriate use of internal frameworks.
• Play a role in the development and maintenance of game engines that execute mathematical logic within our platform.
• Assist in integrating with external game studios by developing wrappers and bridges between third-party game implementations and Playson’s platform.
• Work with data structures and protocols that link game logic with both frontend and backend systems.
• Contribute to RTP monitoring activities, which include validating production transaction data against simulation data and expected mathematical behavior.
• Aid in the enhancement of tools used for mathematical review, simulations, data files, monitoring, and alerting.
• Implement and maintain detailed round logic needed for regulated markets, ensuring accurate provision of game round information to partners and regulators.
• Collaborate closely with mathematicians, backend engineers, platform teams, compliance stakeholders, and product representatives.
• Engage in code reviews and technical discussions to uphold high engineering standards across the Game Engine domain.
• Investigate issues related to game logic, mathematical validation, monitoring, and engine behavior.
• Participate in minimal on-call duties concerning the systems managed by the team, mainly around monitoring, alerts, and domain-specific incidents.
• Assume responsibility for a highly specialized area where quality, precision, and meticulous attention to detail are crucial.
• Significant software engineering experience, preferably in backend development, game engines, gaming, gambling, betting, or simulation-intensive environments.
• Strong experience with Node.js/TypeScript, or robust expertise in another OOP language such as C++, Java, C#, Go, or Python.
• Solid understanding of software architecture, code quality, testing, debugging, and maintainability.
• Experience in reviewing complex code and providing clear technical feedback.
• Capability to comprehend domain-specific logic and interact with technical systems where business rules, mathematics, and engineering are intricately connected.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to tackle complex, non-standard technical challenges.
• Background in working with production systems where reliability, accuracy, and correctness are paramount.
• Understanding of backend systems, APIs, data flows, and service-to-service communication.
• Ability to work closely with non-engineering technical experts, particularly mathematicians or domain specialists.
• Strong sense of ownership and a willingness to become a key expert in a specialized but crucial technical area.
• Product-focused mindset, recognizing that games are the core offering and that engineering choices directly impact delivery, quality, and compliance.
• Proficient English communication skills suitable for working in an international setting.
