Senior Software Engineer – Fleet & Planning

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• With the increasing number of cities and private communities embracing Flock Safety’s ecosystem, efficiently deploying our hardware poses our most significant engineering challenge.

• We are developing a holistic fleet and planning management platform that connects urban planning, legal compliance, and hardware deployment.

• You will create the fundamental software engines that identify optimal camera locations, streamline complex permitting workflows across numerous jurisdictions, and establish a unified dashboard for our customers and deployment teams.

• Develop the geospatial tools and algorithms that identify the most effective and secure locations for our cameras, drones, and safety devices.

• Simplify the bureaucratic processes. Your role will involve creating software integrations that automate permitting submissions, tracking, and approvals with various utility companies and municipalities.

• Design a "single pane of glass" interface that provides our customers complete visibility into their device installation status and fleet health.

• You will operate at the crossroads of mapping, civic technology, and user experience, witnessing the tangible impact of your software implemented in real-world scenarios!

• Proficient in Typescript (Node) for web services as well as in general API design.

• Comfortable using a modern web framework (React, Vue, Angular, etc.). We utilize React with Typescript.

• Knowledgeable about various data stores and adept at interacting with them, especially confident in SQL.

• In-depth understanding of Docker and experience running it locally and deploying remotely via Helm to Kubernetes.

• Strong familiarity with AWS and experience using managed services like S3, API Gateway, SQS, etc.

• Acquainted with AI-assisted engineering practices, including the strategic, concurrent use of multiple AI agents (Claude, Copilot, Codex) to enhance development speed.
