Senior Software Developer Engineer I

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Deliver high-quality features powered by data, machine learning, and artificial intelligence from start to finish.

• Incorporate data, machine learning, and AI functionalities into actual customer workflows.

• Elevate design, reliability, performance, and engineering standards across the organization.

• Take ownership of the architecture and technical direction for essential product areas within a multi-tenant SaaS platform.

• Collaborate with product, design, and data/ML teams to convert business challenges into straightforward, robust technical solutions.

• Lead the advancement of our system architecture (APIs, services, data flows, authentication, tenancy, integrations) as the product and customer base expand.

• Develop and sustain backend services and APIs (REST, GraphQL, gRPC).

• Deliver backend functionalities end-to-end, including data schemas and business logic.

• Work alongside UX and product teams to ensure engaging and responsive product experiences.

• Collaborate with data scientists and MLOps/platform teams to integrate data, machine learning, and AI capabilities into the product.

• Design APIs, data contracts, and user experience flows that ensure ML/AI features are reliable, comprehensible, and secure for customers.

• Ensure that telemetry and feedback mechanisms are established so that data/ML teams can assess performance, iterate on models, and enhance outcomes.

• Assist in defining and implementing safeguards for AI features (fallbacks, explanations, error handling, permissions).

• Advocate for operability: monitoring, alerting, logging, and runbooks for the services you manage.

• Lead initiatives to enhance performance, scalability, and resilience of critical pathways (e.g., onboarding, reporting, AI-assisted workflows).

• Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure features adhere to requirements regarding authentication, authorization, data privacy, and multi-tenancy.

• Engage in and contribute to the evolution of on-call and incident response processes as a technical leader.

• Serve as a technical mentor for multiple teams, enhancing code quality, reviews, testing, and design standards.

• Direct technical design reviews and cross-team architecture discussions, particularly where product, data, and ML intersect.

• Help establish engineering standards and best practices (API design, frontend patterns, error handling, observability, testing).

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in software engineering.

• Proven track record in delivering data, machine learning, and AI-driven SaaS products.

• Strong history of owning and launching complex, user-centric features from inception to completion in cooperation with product management and UX.

• Experience as a senior technical staff member guiding teams and maintaining critical production systems.

• Solid proficiency with at least one backend technology stack, such as Node.js/TypeScript, Java, Go, Rust, or similar.

• Expertise in designing and building APIs, services, and integrations.

• Proficiency in Python and data analysis/modeling tools (e.g., pandas, PyTorch).

• Comprehensive understanding of data modeling and storage concepts: relational databases, caching, and basic data warehousing principles.

• Familiarity with data, machine learning, and AI concepts:

• Understanding how ML models or large language models are offered as services.

• Awareness of typical failure modes, latency/throughput considerations, and protective measures.

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), containers, and infrastructure (networking, scaling, security).

• Strong practices regarding testing, continuous integration/deployment, code reviews, and incremental delivery.
