Senior QA Engineer

Posted 1 day ago

📋 Description

• Develop an automation framework from the ground up, initiating with API-level coverage of essential end-to-end happy path flows that must remain functional in a product that is deployed multiple times daily.

• Guide QA team members towards more technical and structured testing methodologies.

• Collaborate with developers to foster a shared responsibility for quality across engineering: promote enhanced unit testing, assist them in understanding what constitutes good coverage, and transition quality from being a QA issue to a collective team practice.

• Conduct exploratory testing to uncover edge cases and failure scenarios that specifications may not cover.

• Manage feature aftercare: oversee releases in production, monitor stability, and drive ongoing enhancement based on your findings.

• Identify gaps overlooked by developers and PMs, addressing them early in the process and contributing to product decisions throughout the development cycle, rather than solely at the conclusion.

• Monitor key QA metrics, such as bug detection rates, release confidence, and post-release defect counts, while managing the narrative surrounding their implications for the product.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of QA experience, encompassing hands-on automation and structured manual and exploratory testing. You understand the appropriate context for each approach.

• You have previously built automation frameworks, rather than only using them. Proficient in at least one programming language, you can make and justify tooling decisions without relying on specifications.

• You derive satisfaction from transforming a team’s perspective on testing rather than merely delivering test suites. You actively cultivate a culture of quality rather than leaving it to others.

• You have the ability to influence without authority, bringing developers, designers, and product teams closer to quality, with the habits you establish persisting beyond your direct involvement.

• You can clearly communicate risks to engineers, PMs, and non-technical stakeholders, and you are comfortable challenging decisions when something is not ready for deployment.

• You are dedicated to enhancing the skills of those around you and possess the patience to do so consistently.

• Nice to haves:

• Experience with observability and monitoring tools, especially Datadog. The ability to interpret production signals and integrate them into your testing strategy is a significant advantage.

• Experience working across web, mobile, and API surfaces within a single product. Comfort with the complexities of Treatwell Connect, which encompasses all three, is important.

• Proficiency in SQL for data validation, debugging, and exploratory testing. The capability to write queries to trace data flows, validate backend logic, and assist in root cause analysis across distributed systems is a plus.

🏝️ Benefits

• 28 days of holiday, in addition to bank holidays.

• Monthly €40 Treatwell vouchers for personal treats.

• Mental health support through our partnership with Plumm.

• Growth funds to support your development alongside your team.
