Senior Product Engineer – Heartbeat

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• As a member of one of our teams focused on Heartbeat AI, you will contribute to the development of our virtual power plant utilizing our energy manager "Heartbeat," while consistently delivering innovative energy market solutions to our clients.

• This role is a builder position at the crossroads of engineering and product development: you will co-own the product, determine what is built alongside your cross-functional team, deliver it quickly, and leverage AI as a force multiplier throughout the process.

• Cloud Architects and SREs will facilitate your ability to deploy and operate software in a uniform, secure, and dependable manner.

• Take charge of feature development from inception to completion, encompassing problem identification, production deployment, and long-term maintenance.

• Collaborate with PMs to define feature scope and engage with the "why," not merely the "what."

• Make informed technical decisions and provide guidance to fellow engineers regarding architectural choices.

• Maintain short feedback loops: prototype, deliver to real users, observe, and make adjustments.

• Utilize AI tools to enhance your impact and investigate AI-driven product opportunities when applicable.

• Challenge assumptions when something appears illogical and suggest a more effective direction.

• Enhance developer experience by mitigating technical debt, automating workflows, and documenting decisions and runbooks.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong backend engineering capabilities with a deep understanding of distributed systems; TypeScript experience is advantageous but not mandatory.

• Experience with at least one frontend framework.

• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tools; you comprehend how your code operates in a production environment.

• Demonstrated ability to take ownership of features from initial problem statement to delivered, maintained product.

• A product and customer-oriented mindset: you consider user challenges, not just implementation sophistication.

• Experience collaborating within cross-functional teams alongside product managers and designers.

• You proactively seek feedback from your colleagues and foster visibility where it is lacking.

• Comfortable with uncertainty and proactive in requesting what you need to accomplish your tasks.

• Enthusiastic about utilizing AI tools to amplify your contributions, including agentic coding.

• You articulate ideas clearly and succinctly in both written and spoken English.

• Ideally, you also bring one of the following: at least one of these qualifications is required to match you with the appropriate team: Flutter or mobile development experience; foundational knowledge in data engineering (BigQuery, data pipelines); hands-on experience with energy systems, IoT, or climate technology; bonus points for proficiency in German; experience in developing AI-enhanced product features (LLMs, agents); prior experience in a startup or scale-up setting.
