• Design, develop, and manage backend services, internal platforms, and shared infrastructure that facilitate data pipelines, analytics, and application workloads.
• Maintain a strong emphasis on CI pipeline design, operational reliability, and cloud cost awareness as fundamental engineering priorities.
• Produce high-quality, maintainable, and testable production code, primarily utilizing Python.
• Collaborate with application and data engineers to establish service boundaries, APIs, data contracts, and operational requirements.
• Participate in architectural decision-making with a focus on long-term maintainability, reliability, and clarity.
• Design and manage AWS-based, cloud-native systems with a focus on reliability, security, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
• Oversee the complete lifecycle of platform and service components, including design, implementation, deployment, observability, and incident management.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform to oversee cloud assets and operational workflows.
• Facilitate and support data platforms, analytics systems, and ML-adjacent workloads through robust backend and platform services.
• Create systems that integrate with relational databases, object storage, and event-driven data flows.
• Collaborate closely with data engineers and analysts to guarantee systems meet requirements for data accuracy, availability, and performance.
• Establish and refine best practices for cloud-based data management through platform design, automation, and standards.
• Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines that test, validate, and deploy both application and infrastructure code.
• Set up and uphold observability standards using metrics, logs, and alerts.
• Take part in on-call rotations and lead root cause analysis and long-term system enhancements following incidents.
• Over 5 years of professional experience in platform engineering, backend engineering, data engineering, CloudOps, or SRE roles.
• Extensive backend development experience, including the creation and management of production services or internal platforms.
• Previous experience with data platform, analytics, or ML infrastructure teams is preferred.
• Considerable hands-on experience with AWS, encompassing services like VPC, IAM, EKS/ECS, RDS, S3, and related managed services.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures, messaging systems, or streaming data patterns is preferred.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform and/or CloudFormation).
• Proficient in operating containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes in production settings.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD, Git-based workflows, and automated testing.
• An operational mindset, including comfort with owning production systems and participating in on-call rotations.
• Prior experience building or evolving internal developer platforms or shared infrastructure services is preferred.
• Experience working with relational databases and data-intensive systems.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional environment with both technical and non-technical team members across various locations.
