Senior Manager, Security Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead one or more Security Engineering teams, including managers, team leads, and individual contributors.

• Establish the vision, set priorities, define operating rhythms, and implement accountability mechanisms.

• Recruit, nurture, mentor, and retain managers and engineers.

• Develop succession plans and career advancement opportunities.

• Define and implement multi-year Security Engineering roadmaps.

• Participate in budget planning, resource allocation, vendor management, and prioritizing investments.

• Oversee enterprise security platforms that support identity, cloud, application, endpoint, data protection, and security operations.

• Provide oversight for system architecture, platform integrations, security design standards, and engineering practices.

• Advocate for automation and platform-based security controls.

• Assess emerging technologies and guide decisions on build versus buy.

• Direct complex cross-functional programs that involve engineering teams, business stakeholders, and vendors.

• Establish service ownership practices, reliability objectives, key performance indicators (KPIs), reporting, and continuous improvement programs.

• Ensure technical controls align with regulatory, customer, and internal security requirements.

• Communicate strategy, risk, progress, and investment needs to senior leadership and executives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Experience in designing, building, and operating production systems at scale.

• Prior experience in Security Engineering or related engineering disciplines.

• Proven track record of leading engineering teams and successfully delivering complex technical initiatives.

• Strong proficiency in coding, system integration, and automation.

• Experience in evaluating and implementing enterprise security technologies.

• Experience in leading multiple engineering teams and developing managers.

• Solid background in security engineering and platform architecture.

• Ability to influence technical strategy across large, complex organizations.

• Experience in driving organizational transformation and operational maturity.

• Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures and modern security platforms.

• Ability to prioritize competing business and security objectives.

• Experience managing large-scale vendor relationships and technology portfolios.

• Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Proven experience in building metrics-driven engineering organizations.

• Demonstrated ability to lead through ambiguity and organizational change.

• Preferred: experience in leading Identity, Cloud Security, Application Security, Platform Security, or Security Systems Engineering organizations.

• Preferred: experience with rapidly growing SaaS or cloud-native technology companies.

• Preferred: experience managing globally distributed engineering teams.

• Preferred: understanding of NIST CSF, NIST 800-53, ISO 27001, SOC 2, and Zero Trust architectures.

• Preferred: experience managing security platform budgets and vendor portfolios.

• Preferred: advanced security certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, or GIAC.

• Background checks are required.

• Authorization to receive software or technology controlled under applicable U.S. export control laws, if applicable.
