This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Ensure that the implementation strategy for the Laboratory Information System (LIS) aligns with client needs.
• Collaborate with laboratory personnel, management, IT teams, and solution vendors to facilitate the comprehensive implementation of LIS and LDX solutions, encompassing requirements gathering, system design, testing, installation, and configuration.
• Tailor and integrate LIS platforms to conform to laboratory workflows, quality assurance protocols, and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with data migration, validation, and testing before the system goes live.
• Support laboratories and work alongside Data Modernization Initiative (DMI) teams to set up and maintain Electronic Test Order and Result (ETOR) and Electronic Laboratory Reporting (ELR) connections, ensuring accurate and timely data exchange.
• Coordinate with LIS vendors and IT partners to guarantee systems are configured for standards-based interoperability (e.g., HL7, FHIR, ASTM, LOINC).
• Engage with AUL leadership and team members to communicate progress, identify challenges, and align implementation efforts with regional priorities.
• Oversee LIS and LDX performance while ensuring data integrity, system uptime, and security.
• Resolve technical issues, liaise with vendors or IT teams for solutions, and enhance system performance.
• Establish backup, recovery, and version control protocols.
• Provide training to laboratory and IT staff on LIS operations, LDX workflows, troubleshooting, and best practices.
• Modify LIS deployments for settings with limited connectivity or inconsistent power supply.
• Work with field teams to develop scalable, resilient digital systems that boost laboratory efficiency in low-resource environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Health Informatics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of practical experience in LIS and/or health data exchange implementation and administration.
• Knowledge in networking, systems integration, and data interfacing (HL7, ASTM, FHIR, LOINC, API connections).
• Demonstrated experience in designing and maintaining LIS in clinical diagnostic laboratories.
• Strong understanding of laboratory testing workflows (hematology, microbiology, molecular diagnostics, etc.).
• IT experience and previous work in resource-limited or international health environments is highly preferred.
• Proficient in one or more LIS platforms (e.g., OpenELIS, SENAITE, HCLab).
• Deep understanding of laboratory quality management and accreditation standards (ISO 15189, CLIA, CAP).
• Competence in database management, SQL, and security protocols.
• Proficient in system troubleshooting, data validation, and testing.
• Excellent coordination, stakeholder management, communication, and documentation abilities.
• Strong project management skills and the ability to effectively communicate and document.
• Capability to translate technical requirements among laboratory, IT, and vendor teams.
• Ability to work autonomously as well as part of multidisciplinary teams.
• Extensive travel across the USAPI is required.
