Senior Infrastructure Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Collaborate as a member of a small, cross-functional XP team to implement Imogen in client cloud environments.

• Engage in pair programming with fellow engineers and work closely with roles such as product managers and designers.

• Coordinate with client infrastructure, security, and network teams to deploy Imogen on their cloud systems.

• Lead and collaborate on technical discovery initiatives for existing customer cloud infrastructures and tailor Imogen to fit their public cloud environments.

• Implement and refine XP engineering practices, including pair programming, test-driven development, refactoring, continuous integration, and continuous delivery.

• Modify XP practices to accommodate AI-related work.

• Assist in onboarding client and/or partner developers and new team members at Mechanical Orchard, sharing best practices and techniques.

• Commit to continuous learning about emerging technologies and practices, while promoting organizational growth through mentorship, tech talks, and other avenues.

⛳️ Requirements

• The ideal candidate will have experience as a consultant, managing infrastructure, utilizing IaC as a software professional, and collaborating within a team environment, with a passion for XP practices such as pair programming and automation.

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software/Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent foundational experience such as completion of a coding bootcamp or similar technical training is required.

• Strong strategic thinking, technical skills, and attention to detail are essential.

• Ability to quickly learn new software and technologies is crucial.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, along with empathy, are vital for effective interaction with the development team, customers, and others at Mechanical Orchard.

• Comfort with pair programming, which is the standard approach at Mechanical Orchard, is necessary.

• Experience or a demonstrated passion for cloud infrastructure and related tools is preferred.
