Senior II – Staff Software Engineer, Frontend-leaning Fullstack

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +15 more states.

📋 Description

• In this position, you will develop comprehensive product features that facilitate engineers in shipping and managing software, with a strong emphasis on the frontend — integrating customer-facing UI/API development with enhancements to workflows, reliability, and the everyday internal developer experience.

• Deliver customer-facing product features primarily for our AWS-based PaaS across our technology stack, which includes: Ruby on Rails backend systems, a web application (React-TypeScript), a Terraform client (Go), a CLI client (Ruby), and more.

• Assume technical leadership of our React-TypeScript web application — guiding the strategy for refining and maintaining the frontend, including leveraging AI to accelerate development.

• Collaborate closely with Product and Design to clarify requirements, make trade-offs, and deliver in small, high-quality increments.

• Work alongside Design to establish and create a shared component library that ensures consistent, high-quality UI across the product.

• Enhance developer experience, focusing on internal tools, local development workflows, and the transition from code to production.

• Contribute to improvements in reliability and operability, including CI/CD, release processes, observability, and incident response tools.

• Participate in the on-call rotation and assist in driving follow-ups that minimize repeat incidents and simplify system operations.

• Collaborate with our customer-facing engineering team to investigate customer issues and provide fixes or enhancements as necessary.

• Utilize AI tools to enhance your development workflow and increase velocity.

⛳️ Requirements

• You possess experience in delivering production software as a fullstack engineer, with notable expertise in frontend engineering (aiming for Senior II to Staff). Experience with developer tools is an advantage.

• You excel in communication — being clear, effective, and proactive in both verbal and written forms.

• You have robust software engineering fundamentals and coding skills, with comfort in navigating a fullstack codebase.

• You are a prolific and thoughtful developer in at least one mainstream programming language, capable of quickly adapting to new languages/frameworks.

• You have substantial knowledge in React and the contemporary frontend ecosystem, including component architecture, state management, performance optimization, and accessibility.

• You are adept at constructing developer-facing interfaces and workflows, not just backend services.

• You are comfortable operating within cloud infrastructure or distributed systems.

• You thoughtfully consider security, privacy, and compliance factors as part of feature development.

• You have a proven track record as an expert in the products you have developed, serving as a go-to resource for Product Design and Product Management during early feature and product planning.

• You aspire to be part of a small, highly collaborative Engineering Team. You are resilient in the face of ambiguity and obstacles: you identify what hinders you, take ownership, and drive to remove those barriers.
