• Supervise the development and validation of electrical models and wind farm simulations utilizing tools such as PSCAD, PowerFactory, MATLAB, and PSSE.
• Guarantee the quality and precision of grid models by applying technical knowledge in wind power systems and simulation instruments.
• Collaborate closely with GE engineering teams, customer contractors, and third parties to incorporate regional specifications into grid modeling.
• Act as a representative for GE in industry forums and working groups to advocate for best practices and standards in grid integration.
• Work alongside grid operators and industry stakeholders to remain aligned with changing grid codes and regulations.
• Establish and uphold benchmarks for model quality and performance.
• Perform comprehensive reviews and validations of simulation models to confirm they adhere to industry standards and contractual obligations.
• Ensure adherence to contracts and relevant grid codes for GE wind turbines and the Wind Park Controller system (WindCONTROL).
• Develop and execute strategies for grid code compliance testing, leading internal testing efforts and assisting customers during Grid Code Compliance tests.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide constructive feedback to commissioning and service teams to enhance engineering processes.
• Optimize turbine operations under various conditions, including both normal and contingency scenarios.
• Identify and assess additional scope arising from customer communications and project management, ensuring any proposed changes are financially advantageous for GE.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• At least 3 years of experience using PSCAD.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the wind industry, electrical, or electric power engineering.
• Master’s or PhD degree in wind, electrical, electronic engineering, or a related discipline (preferred).
• Proven experience in technical performance analysis of electric power systems with power electronic sources or loads (preferred).
• Familiarity with simulation tools (PSCAD required, MATLAB / PSSE preferred).
• Experience with time-domain simulation tools, particularly in programming, tuning, and employing user-created “black box” models in PSCAD for wind turbine generators or other advanced power electronic systems (preferred).
• Ability to analyze grid codes, extract requirements, and establish system/component specifications to meet those codes (preferred).
• Experience in grid code compliance testing (preferred).
• Knowledge of pertinent wind industry standards and design codes.
• Willingness to travel (national and international) 10% to 20% of the year.
• Strong, self-motivated, collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation abilities.
• Proficient in delivering technical presentations to peers, customers, and leadership regarding the specifics of technical issues and project updates.
• Strong technical aptitude, including familiarity with relevant engineering tools and systems.
• Significant project management experience.
• Background in the Wind Power sector.
• Experience with High & Medium Voltage Electrical equipment.
• Skilled in managing technical interfaces among various customer contractors and/or third parties.
• Experience with control systems and SCADA systems.
• Ability to manage cross-functional teams effectively.
