📋 Description

• Develop, execute, and continually enhance a global trade compliance program that aligns with high-growth, multi-market operations.

• Ensure adherence to import/export regulations across major regions (e.g., EU, US, APAC), encompassing customs, sanctions, and export controls.

• Classify micromobility products (e-scooters, e-bikes, IoT devices, spare parts, and lithium-ion batteries) utilizing HS codes and ascertain duties and tariffs.

• Oversee compliance regarding the international transportation of lithium-ion batteries, including hazardous materials regulations (IATA, IMDG, ADR).

• Manage export control processes, which include licensing requirements for embedded software, GPS/IoT components, and encryption technologies.

• Lead processes for restricted party screening among suppliers, logistics partners, and customers.

• Collaborate closely with Supply Chain, Logistics, Hardware, Legal, and Operations teams to guarantee compliant and efficient global distribution.

• Assist market entry into new countries by evaluating trade compliance requirements and regulatory obstacles.

• Offer detailed analytics concerning the financial impacts of global duties and tariffs for financial planning and budgeting.

• Oversee Duty Drawback and Tariff refund processes.

• Track global regulatory changes (e.g., sustainability rules, battery regulations, recycling directives) and advise on their impact on the business.

• Conduct internal audits, risk assessments, and post-entry reviews; implement corrective measures as necessary.

• Manage relationships with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and pertinent government authorities.

• Establish scalable methods for classification, compliance workflows, and audit readiness in key markets.

• Influence cross-functional decisions by converting regulatory requirements into clear business trade-offs (e.g., cost, speed, risk).

• Lead investigations and resolve compliance issues, disclosures, or audits.

• Create and deliver training programs for internal stakeholders across global teams.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Law, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

• 6–10+ years of experience in global trade compliance, preferably in the hardware, mobility, automotive, or consumer electronics sectors.

• In-depth knowledge of customs regulations, export controls, and sanctions regimes across various jurisdictions.

• Direct experience managing battery shipments and compliance with dangerous goods is strongly preferred.

• Experience with HS classification, origin determination, and valuation methodologies.

• Familiarity with trade compliance systems and ERP platforms.

• Professional certifications (e.g., Licensed Customs Broker, CCS, or equivalent) are advantageous.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth, and operationally complex environment.

• Strong problem-solving capabilities with a pragmatic, business-focused approach.

• Excellent cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management skills.

• High attention to detail and the ability to scale processes on a global level.

• Strong communication abilities, including the capacity to translate regulations into actionable guidance.

• Proactive, hands-on approach with a builder mentality, capable of creating scalable processes while remaining engaged with day-to-day operations.
