This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Supervise federal TTB systems and reporting for 12 production facilities, ensuring complete accuracy and timely submission of monthly wine premises operations reports.
• Employ industry-specific software (InnoVint, NAV, and TTB.gov) to track bulk wine movements, assess/report wine losses, and provide guidance on Bills of Lading (BOL).
• Collaborate with the Quality Control (Supply Chain) team to keep an updated registry of approved wine processing aids/additives, ensuring compliance with legal limits and restrictions.
• Manage the California Deputy Weighmasters list and oversee all related licensing updates with state entities (CDTFA, CDFA).
• Maintain FDA registrations and DUNS numbers.
• Partner with creative teams to design compliant packaging.
• Oversee extensive federal label approvals (COLAs) and navigate COLA waivers.
• Track, maintain, and execute the company’s comprehensive national licensing portfolio, including federal permits, state bonds, solicitor permits, and out-of-state DTC/Wholesale shipping licenses.
• Develop, optimize, and implement digital workflows for multi-channel product registrations and distributor appointment updates.
• Facilitate all necessary export order documentation, managing the preparation of paperwork, official signatures, and notarizations.
• Assist the VP Regulatory Counsel with thorough regulatory research into international sales expansion, delivering organized country-by-country compliance tracking to support strategic growth.
• Aid and support senior Legal and Finance personnel with compliance-related excise tax practices, bond evaluations, and tax-paid inventory movements.
• Identify and investigate month-end data discrepancies in ShipCompliant with Finance; guide Sample and Wholesale Customer Service teams to implement prompt corrections.
• Assess current regulatory technology stacks and workflows to enhance automation, efficiency, and organizational simplicity for all internal and external partners.
• Collaborate closely with the VP, Regulatory Counsel, and the EVP, Chief Strategy & Legal Officer on special projects, including Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and revenue-generating regulatory strategies.
• Provide ongoing regulatory compliance support and structured training sessions for wine trackers and the broader production team.
• Communicate professionally across all departments; advocate for a workplace culture that actively highlights the mission, vision, and values of The Duckhorn Portfolio.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience is required.
• 5 to 10 years of direct compliance experience within alcoholic beverage regulation or a complex commercial wine production environment is preferred.
• Software Proficiencies: Mastery of industry tools and databases, including ShipCompliant, InnoVint, NAV, TTB.gov, FIVS, and Wine Institute resources.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Must currently possess a valid Public Notary commission or be willing and able to obtain one within 90 days of the start date.
• In-depth knowledge of TTB regulations, state ABC frameworks, tied-house laws, and standard multi-channel wine distribution pathways.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to confidently represent Duckhorn to federal and state regulatory bodies.
• Strong critical thinking abilities, a natural inclination for continuous learning, and adaptability to changing laws.
• Proven history of managing highly confidential corporate data with meticulous attention to detail, reliability, and responsiveness.
