This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Argentina.
• Identify and implement enhancements to the codebase that facilitate swift and safe operations for both humans and AI agents.
• Collaborate with a team of senior engineers in an environment characterized by minimal processes, trust, and autonomy.
• Lead decisions and build consensus asynchronously through thorough documentation and specifications.
• Develop new features comprehensively — from user experience to database integration. Deliver quickly. Learn rapidly. Repeat.
• Design scalable solutions and foundational patterns that enable us to efficiently introduce new partner experiences.
• Work closely with PMs and business partners to establish and refine our roadmap. Your insights and technical vision are essential.
• Engage with a diverse range of individuals, providing and receiving constructive feedback for personal and professional growth.
• An inherent motivation to boldly explore an unfamiliar codebase and achieve results swiftly.
• Strong product-oriented mindset — your understanding of quality and architecture is rooted in the customer experience rather than purely technical sophistication.
• Capability to guide AI agents and automated workflows in constructing and maintaining intricate systems, along with the discernment to know when to intervene and when to allow them to operate independently.
• Experience in establishing the guardrails and feedback mechanisms that ensure AI-assisted development remains effective and dependable.
• Proficiency in, or a strong willingness to master, distributed system development in Scala.
• The ability to clearly articulate not just the methodology for solving a problem, but also the rationale behind it and the trade-offs involved.
• This role is offered as an Independent Contractor position (Locación de Servicios) based in Argentina.
• The selected candidate will work with Hopper as an independent service provider and will not be classified as a legal employee under Argentine Labor Law.
• As a result, the contractor is fully responsible for their own equipment, workspace, and adherence to all local tax and social security obligations, including registration and payments under the Monotributo or Régimen General (AFIP).
• This engagement is governed by a commercial service agreement and does not provide eligibility for company-sponsored benefits, statutory 13th-month salary (Aguinaldo), or paid vacation (Vacaciones pagas) typical of conventional employment relationships.
