This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Design, develop, and enhance intricate, production-level software systems that form the foundation of CYPHER’s key products, emphasizing scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
• Take ownership of the technical design and implementation for major features and services, converting product and business needs into clear, well-justified engineering solutions.
• Establish and maintain engineering standards through thorough code reviews, design debates, and technical documentation that elevate the quality across the team.
• Guide and cultivate engineers by offering hands-on assistance, constructive feedback, and technical mentoring that fosters individual growth and team efficiency.
• Enhance system performance and resilience by identifying bottlenecks, minimizing technical debt, and boosting observability throughout the software stack.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, and other stakeholders to execute high-impact initiatives punctually, balancing speed, quality, and architectural soundness.
• Spearhead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for intricate production challenges, implementing lasting solutions and preventing future occurrences.
• Assess and integrate new technologies or methodologies that offer clear advantages, while consistently refining existing systems and development practices.
• Perform all other assigned duties.
• Minimum of 8 years of professional software engineering experience, delivering and maintaining scalable, high-performance systems in production settings is essential.
• Strong command of Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, and at least one modern frontend framework (e.g., React, Vue, Angular) with sound judgment in applying these technologies to address complex challenges.
• Extensive knowledge of object-oriented programming principles and system architecture, including the capacity to design maintainable, scalable, and resilient solutions.
• Practical experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and developing or managing distributed systems in dynamic environments.
• Demonstrated technical leadership by influencing others, mentoring engineers, facilitating alignment among engineering and product teams, and contributing to informed technical decision-making.
• Advanced comprehension of software architecture, design patterns, and engineering best practices, applied pragmatically to achieve a balance between speed, quality, and the long-term health of the platform.
• Proven ability to solve problems under pressure, maintaining composure to diagnose intricate issues, adapt swiftly to changing priorities, and drive effective resolutions in critical situations.
• Clear and confident communicator, capable of collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders and articulating technical concepts in a manner that fosters alignment and informed decision-making.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline is required.
