Senior Engineering Manager – Site Reliability

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Establish a Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team from the ground up. Recruit experienced site reliability professionals and aim to build a team of 4-6 within the first year.

• Enhance incident management by defining and documenting incident processes and practices for both your SRE team and the application feature teams.

• Foster a culture of professionalism and reliability in incident management throughout the engineering organization via training and process implementation.

• Promote a culture of quality and excellence in engineering by utilizing design reviews, code reviews, and blameless retrospectives.

• Maintain a balance between incident response and the execution of a roadmap focused on observability and reliability engineering initiatives.

• Recruit and directly oversee site reliability engineers.

• Accountable for the recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, coaching, and professional development of your team.

• Identify and retain top performers within the team.

• Collaborate horizontally with peer management and senior leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in leading the hiring process and developing SRE or Infrastructure teams.

• Background in establishing or managing SRE functions, including incident management processes, on-call programs, SLO/SLA definitions, and operational runbooks.

• Prior experience as a Site Reliability Engineer.

• Extensive hands-on experience with observability tools: application performance management, logs and traces, as well as golden signals and service-specific metrics.

• Familiarity with selecting and implementing incident management tools (e.g., PagerDuty, FireHydrant, etc.).

• Strong working knowledge of at least one major cloud service provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
