Senior Electronic Component Reliability Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Deliver practical support for component reliability across the entire range of Electronic Control Units (ECUs).

• Facilitate directed component selection for future designs by collaborating with the client's Component Engineering team and vendors to achieve vehicle mission and reliability objectives.

• Aid the Component Reliability and ECU Reliability teams in reviewing Bills of Materials (BoMs) in relation to vehicle life requirements and design standards, including coordinating vendor actions.

• Maintain an updated list of significant component risks and controllers as instructed, along with regular vendor follow-ups for updates and information.

• Draft and distribute vendor communications regarding reliability requirements, targets, and testing plans, while managing follow-up responses.

• Gather, arrange, and format component reliability test data from vendors, including routine follow-ups for any missing or updated information.

• Carry out root-cause coordination duties, such as organizing meetings, collecting data, and conducting regular follow-ups with Contract Manufacturers/vendors to resolve action items.

• Directly engage with vendors in discussions regarding parts, specifications, and sourcing.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred; a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline is acceptable.

• Proven understanding of electronic hardware components, their qualification processes, and reliability (e.g., ICs/chips, transistors, and associated discrete and passive components).

• Capability to read, interpret, and utilize component and design specifications.

• Outstanding organizational skills—the engineer will independently manage their own lists of parts, specifications, risks, and vendor actions.

• Experience in engaging vendors for parts and sourcing discussions.

• Component reliability experience is highly preferred.
