This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of Foodsmart’s methodology for ROI and clinical outcomes, identifying which member populations gain the most benefit and measuring value for both members and payers.
• Advocate for the methodology directly to payers and external actuarial organizations.
• Develop scalable ROI and evidence methodologies for new populations and discussions with payers.
• Manage the clinical research agenda and produce white papers, publications, and other external research outputs.
• Collaborate with clinical teams to apply research findings and best practices in care delivery.
• Act as the internal authority on clinical outcomes and lend expertise to Foodsmart’s narrative for external clients and prospects.
• Lead and nurture a small team while remaining actively involved in core research and methodology tasks.
• Utilize AI and various tools to enhance research and analytical capabilities.
• Report directly to the VP of Analytics & Data Science.
• A Master’s degree in health economics, biostatistics, epidemiology, economics, or a related quantitative field is required; a PhD is strongly preferred.
• At least 12 years of experience as a health economist or actuary.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience leading a team.
• Proven track record in building and defending ROI and value-based care methodologies.
• Experience with published white papers or peer-reviewed research.
• Extensive hands-on knowledge in causal inference, including matched cohort design, risk adjustment, and quasi-experimental methods.
• Significant hands-on experience with healthcare claims data, encompassing both medical and pharmacy (Rx) claims.
• Experience in presenting and defending ROI and outcomes methodologies to payers, actuaries, or other technical external audiences.
• Experience collaborating with clinical or care delivery teams to implement research findings into practice.
• Proficiency in working directly with data using SQL, R, or Python.
• Experience in building automation through data modeling, AI tools, and dashboard creation.
• Familiarity with AI-native tools such as Claude Code or similar.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences.
