Senior Developer, Backend – Developer Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Take ownership and enhance the long-term technical integrity of our monorepo.

• Collaborate with other engineering teams and stakeholders to plan solution designs and release strategies.

• Spearhead foundational upgrades across the technology stack.

• Elevate code quality, application architecture, maintainability, and engineering standards.

• Tackle scalability, reliability, and performance issues as the product expands.

• Identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities across the application and its dependencies.

• Develop and sustain shared developer tools, CI linting, and enhancements for quality of life.

• Oversee and advance shared infrastructure elements such as feature flags, end-to-end tests, and infrastructure-as-code within the monolith.

• Assist product teams by addressing cross-cutting technical challenges.

• Act as a force multiplier by removing obstacles for other teams and improving their reliant systems.

• Contribute through implementation, code reviews, technical mentorship, and documentation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience with Ruby or Ruby on Rails.

• A dedicated software engineer who is passionate about their craft and focused on serving other developers as end users.

• Eager to learn, lead projects, and strive to deliver the highest quality work.

• Experience in designing maintainable systems and making sensible technical trade-offs.

• Strong testing practices and an understanding of how testing supports long-term maintainability.

• Comfortable addressing platform, infrastructure, tooling, or developer experience challenges.

• A commitment to enhancing engineering standards across teams.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering teams.

• A readiness to learn, ask questions, and receive constructive feedback.
