Senior Data Engineer, Interviewer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Conduct 60-minute technical interviews for candidates applying for Senior Data Engineer positions.

• Assess candidates' practical experience with contemporary data platforms and cloud-based data architectures.

• Evaluate technical expertise, adherence to engineering best practices, problem-solving skills, and real-world project involvement.

• Delve into candidates' prior projects through thorough technical discussions and follow-up inquiries.

• Assess knowledge of data engineering principles, cloud architecture, scalability, security, governance, and performance optimization.

• Evaluate understanding of data lakes, lakehouses, data warehouses, and modern analytics platforms.

• Review communication skills and the ability to articulate complex technical concepts with clarity.

• Complete structured interview scorecards and provide hiring recommendations post-interview.

• Work collaboratively with recruiters to maintain consistent evaluation standards.

• Contribute to the enhancement of interview questions and technical assessment procedures when necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of professional experience as a Data Engineer.

• Strong hands-on experience in developing and maintaining data solutions on at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP).

• Comprehensive understanding of modern data platform architectures, including Data Lakes, Lakehouses, Data Warehouses, and Analytics Platforms.

• Significant experience in designing, building, and overseeing ETL/ELT pipelines.

• Strong SQL proficiency and experience with data modeling, encompassing facts, dimensions, star schemas, and semantic layers.

• Proficiency in Python for data processing, automation, and orchestration.

• Familiarity with distributed data processing technologies such as Apache Spark or equivalent frameworks.

• Experience in implementing secure authentication, authorization, and data security patterns within cloud environments.

• Capability to assess both implementation specifics and high-level solution architecture.

• Excellent proficiency in spoken English.

• Competence in conducting interviews professionally and delivering objective candidate evaluations.
