This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Greece.
• Design and construct production data pipelines and platforms that deliver models, data, and AI workflows to both internal and client-facing applications, ensuring accountability under live conditions.
• Take ownership of non-functional quality in your area: managing latency and throughput targets, scalability, reliability, observability, and cost.
• Direct the design and management of multi-model data stores — including relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL), vector (Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector), and graph (Neo4j, Neptune) — selecting the most suitable tool for each access pattern rather than the trendiest one.
• Establish technical direction by crafting design documents, making build-vs-buy decisions, and justifying your approach with data rather than intuition.
• Engage across the stack when necessary — services, data access, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD — and troubleshoot issues that arise in production.
• Elevate the team's standards: mentor mid-level and junior engineers, conduct thorough code reviews, and uphold quality expectations without shifting the responsibility onto others.
• 5+ years of professional experience in developing and managing production data systems — you've navigated scaling issues, reliability challenges, and the less glamorous transition from a working prototype to a stable service.
• Extensive, demonstrated proficiency in designing distributed data pipelines utilizing Apache Spark, along with strong data modeling instincts across relational, vector, and graph databases.
• Solid expertise in at least one general-purpose programming language (Python, Scala, or Java), with the capability to effectively work across other languages as necessary.
• Practical experience with cloud platforms (GCP or AWS), containers (Docker), CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform).
• An engineering discipline that emphasizes maintaining your creations — including version control, testing, code review, and a minimal tolerance for technical debt you’ve introduced.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity. Many of our challenges do not come with pre-defined solutions.
• Scalable communication skills: you can produce a one-page design document that is beneficial to both a product stakeholder and a staff engineer without creating separate documents.
• Bonus Points for:
• Experience in building and managing ML/LLM-powered production systems at scale — including model serving, RAG, and agents.
• Hands-on experience with event-driven or streaming architectures (Pub/Sub, Kafka) and real-time systems.
• In-depth knowledge of security, IAM, networking, or data governance in cloud settings.
• A background in marketing technology, ad tech, or large-scale data products.
• Significant contributions to open-source projects or a notable record of technical leadership outside of your primary job.
• Competitive salary and a hybrid work model – join us in our Athens office or work remotely from anywhere within the European Economic Area (EU, Switzerland, etc.) or the UK (up to 6 weeks per year).
• A training budget to enhance your skills through top tech partners in the industry (Microsoft, AWS, Salesforce, Databricks, etc.) – whether for certifications or courses, we have you covered.
• Private insurance, high-quality tech equipment, and the opportunity to collaborate with an exceptional team.
