Senior Data Architect – Hands on

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of our canonical data architecture, including the schema, contracts, tenancy, and governance.

• Prepare production data for AI use: ensure it is well-modeled, contractually enforced, lineage-tracked, and drift-detectable.

• Manage the canonical data model, which is the standardized definition of core business objects utilized across our products.

• Establish the multi-tenant data architecture, focusing on tenancy isolation, data residency posture, and cost attribution per tenant.

• Spearhead staged modernization to achieve the optimal blend of storage solutions and architectural patterns.

• Direct the architectural strategy for the data pipeline and the lake/lakehouse layer.

• Develop hands-on prototypes, create reference implementations, and establish in-repo guardrails.

• Collaborate with database engineering to maintain production data health while overseeing long-term architectural strategy.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, database administration, or analytics engineering, with at least 3 years in senior or lead positions.

• Proven experience in managing a canonical or enterprise data model/cross-product schema.

• Practical experience with MongoDB at production scale (Atlas M40+ preferred), including document modeling, aggregation frameworks, indexing, change streams, sharding, and replica sets.

• Strong judgment in polyglot persistence.

• In-depth hands-on experience with relational databases, including schema design, indexing strategies, and query optimization.

• Experience in preparing data for AI/ML applications, including architectures that support RAG, semantic search, embeddings/vector pipelines, or agentic workloads.

• Familiarity with multi-tenant architectures, focusing on data residency and cost attribution for individual tenants.

• Expertise in designing pipelines, ELT, lakes, and lakehouses at scale, along with incremental migration strategies that minimize disruption.

• Proficiency with cloud-native data services on platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.

• A strong understanding of data quality, testing, lineage, and monitoring practices.
