• The Senior Consultant-Regulatory Strategy is responsible for managing client engagements from initiation to completion.
• This position entails overseeing the project team's activities and facilitating the day-to-day management of client relationships.
• The Senior Consultant-Regulatory Strategy is expected to proficiently develop and oversee work plans, staffing, deadlines, and budgets for multiple intricate projects simultaneously.
• Deliverables are anticipated to be of exceptional quality and ready for client presentation.
• In this prominent role, you will conduct team meetings and mentor, manage, and coach consultants by offering constructive feedback on their project contributions and overall professional growth.
• The Senior Consultant-Regulatory Strategy collaborates closely with Directors and Partners to keep them informed about project developments and key updates.
• In this capacity, you will be part of a Solutions team at Guidehouse, focusing on Regulatory Pricing and Strategy solutions.
• Your responsibilities will include leading regulatory projects for utility clients, encompassing rate case activities, long-term strategic planning, regulatory support for infrastructure projects, and assistance in policy-making dockets.
• This role also involves supporting retail rate design for utility clients, including innovative pricing for new customer programs such as Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), Electric Vehicles (EVs), net energy metering, among others, as well as traditional power and water rate design.
• You will aid in the development and application of analytical models to perform cost of service studies and rate designs, including rates for new customer programs like DERs and EVs.
• Presenting new rates and programs to stakeholders, including executive leadership, governing bodies, and regulators, is a key responsibility.
• The capacity to take full ownership of significant projects is crucial.
• Strong project management abilities are essential.
• Experience in data collection, manipulation, and analysis, which may involve the creation and management of spreadsheets and databases, is required.
• Conducting thorough fact-finding, research, and analysis through web-based research, including AI tools, and interviews on regulatory policies, filings, and market trends is necessary.
• Supporting the evaluation and development of business strategies, organizational structures, and business processes for energy-related organizations is part of the role.
• Communicating solutions, strategies, and analyses to clients through reports, presentations, and other documents for both internal and external client use is expected.
• Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident due to the nature of client engagements.
• For the Senior Consultant role: a Bachelor’s degree AND Three (3) to Five (5) years of post-graduation work experience in a related energy or electric utilities field (e.g., utility finance, pricing/rates, regulatory support); OR a Master’s degree AND One (1) to Three (3) years of post-graduation work experience in a related field.
• For the Managing Consultant role: a Bachelor’s degree AND Five (5) to Seven (7) years of post-graduation work experience in a related energy or electric utilities field (e.g., utility finance, pricing/rates, regulatory support); OR a Master’s degree AND Three (3) to Five (5) years of post-graduation work experience in a related field.
• A demonstrated understanding of and interest in energy utility policy, regulation, and ratemaking is required.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
• Ability to effectively communicate data analytics, modeling, and visualization to non-technical audiences is necessary.
• A proactive and independent work style is expected.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must.
• Proven proficiency in researching energy policy and regulatory matters, along with experience using spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and presentation software.
• Willingness to travel is required.
• Ability to work onsite in a Guidehouse Office or Client Office location is mandatory.
