This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Deliver hands-on technical leadership for OpenStack-based cloud platforms, serving as a subject matter expert in cloud infrastructure and distributed systems.
• Assist in the creation of engineering standards, patterns, and reusable designs, while guiding other engineers within the team.
• Ensure that solutions are crafted to meet both customer and business needs in multi-tenant environments.
• Design, implement, and oversee Brightsolid’s OpenStack cloud platform, which includes compute, storage, and networking components.
• Manage the entire lifecycle of the platform, from build and deployment to optimization and scaling of services.
• Ensure the platform remains highly available, resilient, and capable of accommodating diverse workloads.
• Design and support large-scale storage platforms that underpin the cloud environment, including both high-performance and enterprise storage solutions.
• Contribute to the architecture and operation of block, object, and distributed storage services, ensuring that performance, durability, and scalability requirements are satisfied.
• Drive the adoption of infrastructure-as-code and automation methodologies across the cloud platform.
• Develop and maintain deployment tools, orchestration templates, and automation pipelines to ensure consistent and repeatable platform delivery.
• Promote a continuous delivery approach for infrastructure services.
• Support the ongoing functionality of the Brightsolid cloud platform, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving complex issues.
• Ensure compliance, patching, and lifecycle management activities are executed in accordance with operational standards.
• Contribute to a high-availability, 24x7 service environment.
• Participate in the evolution of Brightsolid’s cloud platform by collaborating closely with Cloud Engineering leadership and Product Management to enhance capabilities and incorporate new technologies.
• Aid in the ongoing transition to open-source platforms, ensuring alignment with long-term strategic objectives.
• Collaborate with Network Engineering, Security Operations, Product Management, and Customer Success teams to provide integrated cloud services.
• Engage with external partners such as Canonical to assist in platform development, deployment, and optimization.
• Extensive experience in a senior cloud engineering or infrastructure engineering position.
• Proven track record in designing and operating large-scale cloud platforms or distributed systems.
• In-depth expertise in Linux-based systems and infrastructure, with a solid understanding of infrastructure-as-code and automation principles.
• Experience in a managed service or service provider setting, delivering high-availability solutions.
• Knowledge of OpenStack and related technologies, including compute, networking, and orchestration services.
• Familiarity with distributed storage platforms and data services.
• Experience with Canonical tooling and various cloud deployment models.
• Proficiency in automation frameworks like Ansible, Terraform, or similar tools, with experience supporting multi-tenant environments and large-scale infrastructure platforms.
• Strong technical leadership skills with the capability to influence design and engineering decisions.
