This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Contribute to the transformation of clinical data into usable research assets by spearheading initiatives in knowledge management, semantic normalization, and data quality assurance.
• Work in partnership with clinicians, scientists, data scientists, product managers, and engineers to establish scalable methods for mapping clinical concepts.
• Identify opportunities for capturing essential concepts.
• Create concept lists to facilitate cohort development.
• Design quality checks for clinical data to ensure datasets align with clinical standards.
• Develop and sustain concept groups.
• Assess customer code lists and suggest updates as necessary.
• Map claims data and health system information to standardized concepts in the OMOP Common Data Model (CDM).
• Semantically normalize data converted to the CDM from various health systems and prioritize the mapping of unmapped concepts.
• Produce documentation that outlines optimal data usage for insight generation.
• Collaborate with clients to enhance their understanding of how to utilize data for addressing research inquiries.
• Establish data quality testing protocols specific to disease areas.
• Determine effective strategies for capturing concepts that are vital for answering client research questions and assess the feasibility of concept prevalence analysis.
• Define annotation projects aimed at capturing intricate clinical ideas.
• MD or DO degree is required; completion of an accredited residency program is highly preferred.
• A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience is mandatory.
• Experience with standard clinical vocabularies such as SNOMED CT, LOINC, RxNorm, ICD-10-CM, CPT, or HCPCS, along with a solid understanding of their structure and application in clinical data representation.
• Familiarity with EHR systems and standard clinical documentation practices.
• Strong comprehension of data captured in structured and unstructured EHRs (e.g., clinical notes), as well as claims datasets, including the types of concepts each source best represents.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to facilitate cross-functional collaboration.
• Advanced training or certification in clinical informatics is preferred.
• At least 2–3 years of experience in clinical informatics or a closely related field is preferred.
