This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.
• Accountable for the engineering, design, development, timing, and production release of various functions, including Body-in-white, Body closure sheet metal and hinging, Fascia/bumper, Underbody shield and Wheel liners, Cladding & flares, Body exterior components (such as moldings, badges, decals, and vents), Front Lighting, EE & Signal Lighting, Fixed Glass, Wipers, and Fuel Door components/systems, from initial design concepts to full-volume production.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 5-8 years of experience in engineering automotive components, focusing on designing and developing Body in White, Closures, or Exterior Systems.
• Proficient in CAD software including Unigraphics NX, Catia V5, and Teamcenter within a production release environment for Body in White (BIW).
• Familiar with high strength steels and aluminum forming processes, weld parameters, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Experience collaborating with OEMs or suppliers on design and release processes.
• Knowledge of Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R) and validation plans.
• Ability to create and edit Bills of Materials (BoMs).
• Knowledge and experience with composites and their production processes.
• Experience with the release of both mechanical and electrical components.
• Understanding of designing for Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) prevention.
• Prior experience with automotive lighting specifications and standards is advantageous, along with electronics specifications.
• Familiarity with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and/or Reactive Green/Black Belt methodologies.
• Experience with in-plant launch activities related to Body in White.
• Proven track record in designing and developing injection molding, painting, and decorating Class A plastic components.
• Knowledge of CAE/Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) principles.
• Experience in leading technical teams effectively across various management levels and between OEMs and suppliers.
• Regularly presents to upper management for decision-making regarding issue resolutions.
• Knowledge or experience with CAN/LIN bus systems and circuit analysis.
• Strong proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook).
• Familiarity with CATIA V5 is a plus.
• Understanding of Casting and Injection Molding processes is a plus.
• Willingness to travel; a valid passport and visa are preferable.
