Senior Backend Engineer – Developer Experience

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Switzerland.

📋 Description

• You will collaborate with a skilled team to design, develop, and implement hyperscaling solutions for third-party systems, enhancing the extensibility of our systems while supporting external developers with comprehensive documentation.

• You will create and improve API interfaces and service communications, ensuring they are clear, scalable, and adaptable.

• You will partner with various teams to develop efficient contracts and interfaces, utilizing your generalist approach to tackle diverse challenges in supporting external developers.

• You will maintain and upgrade existing solutions, proactively identifying and resolving any issues that arise.

• You will work closely with product management, design, and engineering to drive product development changes from conception to delivery.

• You will mentor and coach fellow engineers through pair programming, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.

⛳️ Requirements

• You possess a profound understanding of API design, including RESTful and GraphQL, alongside best practices for structuring efficient, secure, scalable, and maintainable APIs, as well as knowledge of networking and web application layer protocols.

• You have significant experience in web application backend development using languages such as PHP, Java, Python, Go, or similar, and are eager to utilize PHP as your primary language.

• You are knowledgeable about relational database management systems and SQL, preferably MySQL.

• You understand how to build software end-to-end with a solid grasp of frontend technologies, with exposure to React.

• You excel at writing unit and integration tests and have a strong understanding of error handling, logging, and observability.

• You have experience in defining contracts and interfaces, ensuring your code is consistent and maintainable.

• You are familiar with testing frameworks and possess a deep understanding of best practices related to component composition, reusability, accessibility, maintainability, and performance.
