Senior Backend Engineer

📋 Description

• Create, develop, and sustain scalable backend services and APIs utilizing Golang microservices.

• Lead the technical architecture and enhance long-term system health by foreseeing scaling and maintenance requirements.

• Collaborate across various teams, including product, design, and frontend, to deliver features with significant impact.

• Engage in system design reviews, recommend and implement robust solutions, and contribute to Weave’s overall engineering vision.

• Take ownership of the quality, reliability, and observability of your code throughout the development and production phases.

• Assist in planning and executing projects from conception to completion, maintaining a strong sense of ownership and focus on outcomes.

• Guide peers and junior engineers by imparting knowledge and promoting best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of backend engineering experience with contemporary programming languages such as Golang, Java, Python, Ruby, or C# (Golang is preferred, or a willingness to learn).

• Proven experience in designing and building RESTful APIs and backend services.

• Solid understanding of distributed systems and inter-service communication (e.g., protobufs/gRPC, ReST, Kafka, Redis).

• Familiarity with relational databases and SQL.

• Openness to participating in an on-call rotation with your team and taking accountability for production systems.
