This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Oversee the development of significant team-focused projects and engage in cross-team initiatives related to Remote's HR and Payroll products.
• Actively engage in product-related tasks within the team: offer feedback, recommend solutions to challenges, and leverage technical insights to propose product enhancements.
• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the team’s domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
• Provide constructive feedback during code reviews.
• Contribute to the shared codebase.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical and business challenges.
• Participate in activities outside the team, such as support rotations, the hiring process, and RFC discussions.
• Mentor and guide fellow engineers.
• Explore, propose, and assist in implementing enhancements to our platform.
• Develop interfaces with a focus on performance, accessibility, and API design.
• Redesign the process of how engineering work is executed using autonomous agents as the primary execution layer.
• Propose and implement end-to-end agentic workflows (specification → planning → execution → verification) to accelerate outcomes.
• Create reusable agentic workflows and building blocks in the codebase for teams to utilize repeatedly across various domains.
• Employ verification loops (tests, checks, evaluations, guardrails) to guarantee that results are accurate, secure, reliable, and scalable.
• Solid engineering principles and a proven history of delivering production systems that are secure, reliable, and scalable.
• Hands-on experience in designing or adopting agentic/automation workflows (or similar systems) and enhancing them through iterative improvements.
• Capability to think systemically: clearly define specifications, decompose plans, implement verification, and ensure quality control.
• Proficiency in Postgres (or an equivalent).
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins, or similar).
• Strong capabilities in automation and AI, along with fluency in AI concepts.
• Experience with Functional Programming languages such as Elixir, Erlang, Scala, Clojure, Haskell, etc. (preferred).
• Knowledge of Kubernetes (preferred).
• Understanding of Docker (preferred).
• Familiarity with AWS (preferred).
• Experience with Next.js (preferred).
• Proficiency in React/Vue/Angular (preferred).
