Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Implement intricate systems spanning software, infrastructure, networking, and security.

• Break down work into clearly defined milestones, estimate delivery timelines, and ensure follow-through.

• Tackle a diverse array of technical challenges innovatively, maintaining clarity in code.

• Collaborate closely with stakeholders across teams to clarify requirements and deliver effective software solutions.

• Serve as a key expert in at least one area of the codebase while mentoring colleagues.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of professional software engineering experience with a proven record in delivering intricate systems.

• Strong expertise in at least one core programming language — proficient in the languages utilized by your team and capable of quickly adopting new ones as necessary.

• Comfortable integrating coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) into your daily workflow.

• Practical experience with cloud platforms (particularly AWS/Azure) encompassing networking components like VPCs, subnets, security groups, and private endpoints.

• Experience engaging with multiple layers of the stack: application, database, infrastructure, or security.

• Proven ability to collaborate with stakeholders from various teams to define requirements and achieve results with minimal supervision.

• Strong grasp of system reliability, monitoring, and performance enhancement.

• Participation in various teams or roles — your diverse experience informs your technical decision-making.

• High proficiency in one or more of the following: Python, TypeScript, Go.

• Extensive involvement with complex, production-quality APIs and services.

• Strong understanding of cloud execution environments and the impact of architectural choices on them.

• Solid comprehension of databases, caches, queues, events, and workers.

• Comprehensive understanding of network fundamentals: routing, switching, VPN protocols, DNS, and firewalls.

• Strong knowledge of network security principles and practices for hardening.

• A readiness to embrace failure and feedback, learn, and make improvements.

• A keen interest in learning new disciplines and gaining deep insights into the work of team members.

• Ability to communicate effectively and concisely both in person and through team chat.
