This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Take ownership of the AML and financial crime transaction monitoring Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring they remain in line with current regulatory standards, evolving typologies, and operational realities.
• Manage the feedback loop for Lithic's monitoring system: collaborate with Analytics, Engineering, and Product teams to assess alert logic, evaluate the effectiveness of rules and scenarios, and adjust thresholds to minimize false positives while maintaining comprehensive coverage.
• Oversee the testing, implementation, and calibration of agentic transaction monitoring and investigative solutions, including documenting the investigative context necessary for producing consistent, examiner-ready outputs.
• Independently investigate complex suspicious activities and prepare high-quality Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and Unusual Activity Reports (UARs); manage escalations and judgment-heavy cases that automation cannot resolve unattended.
• Supervise and ensure the quality of alert reviews and investigative outputs, including those assisted by AI, to ensure decisions withstand scrutiny from bank partners and regulators.
• Analyze monitoring performance data, operational trends, and emerging financial crime threats to derive actionable insights for the program, while defining and influencing AML Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).
• Lead the preparation for governance in relevant oversight forums and assist with deliverables required for bank partner and exam readiness.
• Train and mentor analysts on investigations, money laundering typologies, and agentic tools, ensuring that program knowledge is scalable beyond individual contributors.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in AML/BSA and transaction monitoring within a fintech, payments, or bank-partnered setting.
• Proven track record of managing end-to-end AML programs or work streams with minimal supervision, including the creation and maintenance of SOPs and governance documentation.
• Extensive knowledge of money laundering typologies and emerging trends in financial crime, with the capability to independently investigate complex activities and produce high-quality SARs and UARs.
• Practical experience in evaluating alert logic and assessing or fine-tuning transaction monitoring rules and scenarios for their effectiveness.
• Proficiency in working with AI-assisted or agentic tools, including the ability to test, adjust, document, and justify AI-assisted decisions to bank partners and regulators.
• A self-motivated individual capable of creating order in ambiguous situations, knowing when to escalate and collaborate.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong understanding of the BSA/AML regulatory framework, including the USA PATRIOT Act, OFAC and sanctions, and SAR requirements.
