Security Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist the Department of Veterans Affairs in ensuring cybersecurity compliance within VA research environments.

• Manage the documentation necessary for keeping VA systems authorized and operational: ATO and ATC packages, security artifacts, POA&Ms, gap analyses, and FISMA documentation.

• Create, review, and sustain ATO and ATC packages, including system security plans (SSPs), control implementation statements, FISMA documents, and POA&Ms across a range of VA research systems.

• Take responsibility for tracking and resolving open POA&M items, ensuring that authorization schedules are up to date.

• Support all RMF phases from security categorization to authorization, collaborating with VA ISOs, ISSOs, site managers, and system owners to bridge gaps and meet deadlines.

• Perform security assessment reviews for VA research submissions, operate within the VA's Continuous Authorization and Monitoring (CAM) framework, and assist in planning product installations for significant system changes.

• Facilitate client-facing meetings on ATO-related topics on a regular basis.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, electronics engineering, or a related engineering or technical field, along with 5 years of pertinent experience.

• A total of 13 years of relevant experience may be accepted as a substitute for a degree (8 additional years may count towards educational requirements per contract stipulations).

• Practical experience with the complete RMF lifecycle, from categorization to authorization.

• Proficient in developing and maintaining SSPs, control implementation statements, POA&Ms, and FISMA security documentation with minimal oversight.

• Familiarity with NIST SP 800-53 is a mandatory requirement.

• Capability to interpret authorization documentation, identify gaps, formulate a plan to address them, and communicate effectively.

• Must be able to obtain and retain a VA Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination.

• U.S. citizenship is required.
