This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Provide support for executive communications, scientific and technical writing, knowledge management, and leadership engagement initiatives at the National Library of Medicine.
• Compose executive-level communications, such as emails, briefing documents, reports, correspondence, talking points, and NLM news articles.
• Create presentations, speaker notes, scripts, briefing books, Q&A documents, and various leadership communication materials.
• Conduct research, writing, and editing of scientific and technical content, including reports, policy papers, summaries, articles, speeches, and digital media outputs.
• Perform literature reviews and compile concise summaries, reports, and presentations of scientific results.
• Develop and sustain standard operating procedures (SOPs), templates, style guides, toolkits, and other communication resources.
• Oversee and refresh knowledge management resources, including the NLM Office of the Director wiki and other content repositories.
• Review, edit, and proofread documents to ensure scientific accuracy, quality, consistency, and completeness.
• Assist with leadership communications, stakeholder engagement activities, working groups, and cross-NLM initiatives.
• Simplify complex scientific and programmatic information into accessible content for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Collaborate with leadership, subject matter experts, and internal stakeholders to formulate and implement communication strategies.
• Offer insights on best practices for scientific, technical, and executive communications.
• Support training, coaching, and the development of writing and editing resources for staff.
• Master’s Degree.
• At least two (2) years of experience in executive communications and/or strategic communications support.
• Proficient in scientific and technical writing, editing, and proofreading.
• Experience in conducting literature reviews and synthesizing complex scientific data.
• Skilled in preparing reports, presentations, briefing materials, and leadership communications.
• Ability to convey technical and scientific information to non-technical audiences.
• Knowledge of best practices in content management, knowledge management, and document control.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD public trust.
• Candidates must receive approved adjudication prior to onboarding with Guidehouse.
• Experience working with NIH, HHS, NLM, or other federal scientific organizations.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
• Capable of working independently and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with REPORTER, IMPAC II, wiki platforms, and enterprise content management systems.
• Experience in creating Section 508-compliant documents and presentations.
• Graphic design experience for executive-level presentations and communications.
