SAP Functional – Transportation Management SME

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North America.

📋 Description

• Act as the subject matter expert for SAP Transportation Management (TM), providing insights on system functionalities, standard features, and design considerations.

• Convert business needs into functional specifications and solution designs that are consistent with SAP S/4HANA architecture.

• Guide configuration and design choices for crucial TM components such as: Freight Order Management, Transportation Planning & Optimization, Carrier Selection & Tendering, Freight Settlement & Cost Distribution.

• Ensure consistency with integration points across various SAP modules (e.g., EWM, MM, SD, GTS).

• Collaborate with senior government and program executives to define the transformation strategy and roadmap for transportation management capabilities.

• Provide expert advice on process standardization, system usage, and the impacts of organizational change.

• Serve as a trusted advisor, balancing mission objectives with technical feasibility and SAP best practices.

• Lead the conversion of operational requirements into structured specifications, user stories, and functional design documents.

• Assess discrepancies between legacy processes and SAP TM functionalities, proposing innovative and scalable solutions.

• Ensure all designs are compliant with auditability, traceability, and regulations within a DoD environment.

• Define and assist with functional testing strategies, including system integration testing (SIT) and user acceptance testing (UAT).

• Confirm that configured solutions align with business requirements and operational scenarios.

• Support deployment planning, transition activities, and the shift to operational status.

• Aid organizational change initiatives by helping stakeholders comprehend and embrace new transportation processes and system capabilities.

• Contribute to the development of training materials, user guides, and process documentation.

• Identify adoption risks and suggest mitigation strategies to ensure successful implementation.

• Monitor performance post-implementation and pinpoint opportunities to enhance transportation processes and system utilization.

• Suggest improvements based on operational data, user feedback, and evolving mission requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, Business, or a related field.

• Over 8 years of SAP functional experience, with a strong focus on SAP Transportation Management (TM).

• Demonstrated experience in supporting SAP S/4HANA implementations, particularly in large and complex environments.

• Comprehensive understanding of end-to-end transportation and logistics operations.

• Ability to facilitate workshops, influence stakeholders, and foster consensus among diverse teams.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
