Rust Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Enhance and refine OPENVAS, our open-source vulnerability scanning framework, emphasizing dependable and scalable vulnerability detection.

• Design and develop high-performance backend services, APIs, and system-level components, primarily utilizing Rust.

• Play a key role in the architecture and creation of new scanning modules, services, and capabilities for the framework.

• Address intricate backend challenges at scale, adopting a comprehensive approach to performance, maintainability, and reliability.

• Promote software quality through automated testing, code reviews, CI/CD processes, and contemporary engineering practices.

• Fortify the OPENVAS open-source community by actively collaborating and engaging on GitHub.

⛳️ Requirements

• Several years of professional experience in software engineering focused on backend, systems, or infrastructure development.

• Expert-level knowledge of Rust along with significant experience in C.

• Strong foundation in system-level programming, backend development, API design, and software architecture.

• Demonstrated capability to devise technical solutions and tackle large-scale backend challenges.

• An interest in interpreter/compiler programming.

• Experience with automated testing, quality assurance, and modern development workflows, including AI-assisted development.

• Excellent communication abilities, a collaborative spirit, and full professional fluency in English (proficiency in German is a plus).
