This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• A rapidly expanding primary care practice is looking to establish a full-cycle billing and coding team to address a considerable backlog of unpaid claims and maintain a high volume of daily claims management moving forward.
• This position encompasses complete Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) responsibilities, rather than being limited to a single billing function. You will oversee claims from initiation to payment, directly utilizing Athena.
• Assist in identifying recurring denial patterns specific to different payers.
• Follow up with payers regarding unpaid, denied, or underpaid claims through phone calls and payer portals.
• Respond to patient inquiries concerning balances and billing statements.
• Proficiency in Athena EHR is essential. This is a non-negotiable requirement — there will be no time allocated for training on the platform.
• A minimum of 3 years of full-cycle medical billing experience, including VOB, claims submission, denial management, payer follow-up, and corrected claims.
• Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 coding and modifiers is required (certification is not necessary).
• Experience managing denials and appeals across various payer types: Medicare, Medicaid, Medicaid Advantage, UHC, and commercial plans.
• Proven experience handling patient-facing billing calls in English, with clear, professional, and easily understandable communication — this role involves direct interaction with U.S. patients about their bills, not solely with insurance representatives.
• Ability to independently manage a high volume of claims; should be able to discuss your production rate (claims processed per day) from previous roles.
• Preferred background in primary care, home health, or similarly intricate specialty billing.
• Experience with Athena's Hold/Manager Hold queue workflows specifically.
• A history of identifying and resolving recurring payer denial patterns before they become a recurring issue.
• A quiet, dedicated home workspace equipped with backup power and a verified wired internet connection (backup connectivity is required, not solely a mobile hotspot).
• Windows 11 or the latest macOS is required.
• Full availability during designated U.S. business hours is necessary.
• Competitive hourly wage.
• Consistent and timely payments, every time.
• Payments processed through Wise.
• Comprehensive client training provided — you will never be left unprepared.
• HIPAA certification offered at no cost to you.
• A dedicated Account Manager will be your primary contact.
• Clear escalation procedures — you will always know who to approach for assistance.
• 100% remote work — operate from the comfort of your home.
• U.S.-based company with structured operations.
• Stable, long-term account placements (not gig-based work).
• A supportive team culture across all accounts.
• Opportunity to enhance your U.S. industry experience.
• Exposure to various practice types and platforms.
• Potential for increased hours or additional accounts based on performance.
• Strengthen your resume with verified, legitimate experience from U.S. clients.
• Recognition for tenure for long-standing team members.
• We value loyalty and appreciate those who grow with us.
