• Assists in the daily operations of a team of Pre-Award Specialists.
• Oversees the distribution of workload and communicates any issues to the Research Administration Services (RAS) Director.
• Offers guidance to team members as needed.
• Collaborates with the RAS Director on pre-award activities, resolving issues, and managing workload distribution.
• Partners with the Post-Award team lead to organize inter-team meetings to promote collaboration between the pre-award and post-award teams, as appropriate.
• Oversees pre-award activities for a designated portfolio of grants and contracts within a RAS unit, utilizing knowledge of grant and contract management regulations, technical expertise, and analytical skills.
• Manages the daily operations and objectives in support of the assigned portfolio.
• Contributes insights and ideas related to responsibilities as part of a cross-functional team.
• Ensures effective and efficient workflow and compliance with quality standards for the staff/program and oneself.
• Executes pre-award activities for a unit (school, department, or division) within a RAS unit.
• Aids departmental faculty/PIs in the creation, preparation, and submission of grant and contract proposals.
• Ensures all applications align with agency and university guidelines and adhere to published timelines and deadlines.
• Guarantees that proposals are submitted and routed promptly for further review.
• Collaborates with PIs and Pre-award support staff at partner institutions to obtain necessary sub-award documents for proposals.
• Assists the PI in formulating budgets and budget justifications.
• Evaluates budgets for consistency with sponsors, monitors compliance with agency and University regulations regarding submissions, and verifies all financial information.
• Advises the PI on administrative necessities for proposal submissions and on budget adjustments and revisions required to meet sponsor criteria.
• Coordinates and reviews specific elements of proposals for consistency, accuracy, and completeness.
• Oversees and streamlines the proposal process through routing in accordance with University procedures and institutional signatures.
• Collaborates effectively with other offices on research proposals.
• Undertakes related responsibilities as needed.
• Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience in grants and contracts OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Familiarity with federal rules and regulations pertaining to research grants and/or contract activities.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite software.
