This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Assess product information across various categories, ensuring adherence to legislation, customer policies, and industry standards.
• Offer clear, risk-based guidance that empowers clients to launch products safely, competitively, and efficiently.
• Leverage your regulatory expertise to question, challenge, and advise clients, suppliers, and colleagues, ensuring due diligence and compliance with legal requirements.
• Responsible for delivering precise, timely, and high-quality advice that facilitates confident and compliant product launches.
• Conduct product information services, including formulation, regulatory modifications, specification/pack copy review, artwork assessment, alignment, and branded product compliance reviews as necessary.
• Provide regulatory counsel to Ashbury and its clients to guarantee product legality.
• Engage in research and horizon scanning for changes and advancements impacting the regulatory landscape relevant to Ashbury and its clients.
• Review and recommend updates to Ashbury clients’ policies, considering new regulations, guidance, and codes of practice.
• Manage client customer complaints, drafting responses and handling escalated or serious issues.
• Deliver risk-based recommendations for complaints and enforcement challenges faced by Ashbury clients.
• Lead or support clients through product recall or withdrawal processes, producing necessary documentation to assist this process.
• Collaborate with central and local government agencies and industry organizations, such as OPSS, FSA/FSAI, Primary Authorities, laboratories, BRC, BSI, and ASA.
• Provide training on regulatory and technical subjects to Ashbury and its clients.
• Cultivate relationships with client Technical and Regulatory decision-makers, influencing discussions on regulatory matters.
• Attend client meetings to address regulatory affairs.
• Create expert opinion content on relevant subjects for marketing and training purposes as needed.
• Present expert opinions on relevant subjects both internally and externally.
• Stay updated on legal requirements and labeling policies, ensuring information is shared within the organization.
• Maintain and enhance your expertise in one or more specialized areas.
• At least 3 years of experience in a regulatory role within the industry, trading standards, enforcement, or a related field.
• Proficient in both spoken and written English.
• Proven ability to work independently, manage your own workload, and effectively handle time management.
• Demonstrated capacity for risk-based decision-making.
• Confident in applying regulations to product information and communicating decisions to clients.
• In-depth regulatory expertise in one area (food or non-food) and a strong working knowledge in the other, with the willingness to expand.
• Experience in applying legislation, customer policies, and codes of practice to actual product information.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proficiency in IT and presentation capabilities.
• Ability to simplify complex requirements for better understanding.
• Competence in risk assessment, providing appropriate solutions to resolve issues.
• Capable of researching and gathering information using available resources.
• Receptive to guidance and aware of the commercial landscape.
• Resilient under stress and able to work under tight deadlines.
