This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Investigating mesh networking techniques suitable for Denied, Disconnected, Intermittent, and Limited-bandwidth (D-DIL) settings.
• Conducting a comparative analysis of LoRaWAN, Meshtastic, Thread, and principles of military tactical data link design (TDMA scheduling, anti-jamming, time synchronization).
• Creating a hypothetical message format tailored for constrained RF links.
• Assessing cluster formation methodologies (entropy-based weighting, RSSI, trade-offs involving residual energy).
• Evaluating lightweight cryptographic solutions (PKI vs. symmetric key distribution for low-power microcontrollers).
• Contributing to the comprehensive technical report and subsequent roadmap.
• Assisting with tasks related to this project that may not be explicitly outlined here.
• Academic coursework or project involvement in at least two of the following areas: wireless communications, embedded systems, networking protocols, or applied cryptography.
• Proficient in C/C++ and/or Python for tasks involving embedded systems and simulations.
• Strong technical writing skills — you will collaborate on drafting sections of the final report.
• Self-motivated; capable of planning and achieving weekly objectives in a remote work environment.
• Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited college or university while pursuing a Master's Degree or be in the later stages of a BS/BA (rising senior or final-year) in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
