Production Coding Specialist II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Evaluate documentation for necessary components, such as attestations, signatures, and dates.

• Extract and code surgical procedures from all sections of CPT and align surgical codes with ASA, including complex anesthesia cases.

• Utilize appropriate modifiers.

• Code using ICD10.

• Perform coding in various locations and high-complexity scenarios.

• Abstract anesthesia times and related events.

• Identify and allocate care team providers.

• Review for medical direction.

• Achieve team KPIs, which include daily production targets and quarterly coding audit score requirements.

• Engage in escalation workflows and address coder inquiries for additional information.

• Manage coding rejections and respond to physician requests.

• Handle assigned IDX edits and claim denials.

• Execute other tasks as needed.

• Comply with company policies and procedures, particularly HIPAA and confidentiality regulations.

• Operate in a remote capacity during daytime hours.


⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in surgical coding.

• At least 2 years of experience in anesthesia coding.

• Current CPC certification is required.

• CANPC certification is advantageous.

• Experience with intricate surgical coding.

• Familiarity with multiple EMRs and various documentation types and templates, including handwritten and electronic medical records.

• Intermediate proficiency and hands-on experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe PDF.

• Intermediate skills in Outlook.

• Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.

• Competent in ten-key operations.

• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of USAP employees.

• Strong organizational and time management skills.

• Exceptional computer skills.

• Capability to work independently.

• Self-motivated to initiate new projects.

• Must reside within the United States, excluding California, Hawaii, and Alaska.

• Must adhere to HIPAA and confidentiality policies.
