This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +30 more states.
• Propel the design vision for your designated product area(s), aligning long-term user requirements with immediate execution plans.
• Work in close collaboration with product and engineering leaders to shape roadmaps, clarify objectives, and establish success metrics.
• Convert abstract and vague challenges into precise design problems and well-informed recommendations.
• Oversee the complete design lifecycle—from initial discovery and wireframes to detailed interaction specifications and production-ready assets.
• Develop innovative experiences that strike a balance between usability, technical feasibility, and domain-specific complexities (e.g., spatial, data-heavy, or mission-critical contexts).
• Lead and contribute to intricate feature and system-level design projects, ensuring cohesion and scalability throughout the platform.
• Conduct research, testing, and data analysis, integrating insights into every stage of the design process.
• Collaborate with UX researchers, engineers, and domain experts to ground decisions in empirical evidence and real-world behaviors.
• Convey insights through storytelling, frameworks, and documentation that promote empathy and alignment.
• Contribute to the advancement of Slingshot’s design system, UI patterns, and visual standards across various platforms and teams.
• Utilize a strong grasp of hierarchy, typography, motion, and layout to craft intuitive and expressive interfaces.
• Maintain a high standard for craftsmanship, consistency, and accessibility.
• Work seamlessly with engineering, product, program, growth, sales, and marketing teams to synchronize vision and execution.
• Act as a strategic partner to product managers and technical leads; influence trade-offs and strategic decisions.
• Advocate for a user-centered approach across the company, promoting design best practices and systemic thinking.
• Must be eligible to obtain or maintain US Government Security Clearance, with preference given to those holding an active TS Clearance.
• 4+ years of professional product design experience, including leadership roles on complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
• Proven track record of delivering high-impact, user-focused solutions in fast-paced and ambiguous environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in a design-related field (e.g., HCI, Visual Design, Interaction Design) or equivalent practical experience.
• Must be eligible to obtain or maintain US Government Security Clearance.
• Active TS/SCI Security Clearance required.
• Proficient with design tools (Figma, Lucid Charts, Adobe CC) and various prototyping methods across different fidelity levels.
• Experience in systems design, modular interfaces, and information-dense products.
• Domain expertise in aerospace, geospatial technology, 3D visualization, or real-time decision-making tools is an advantage.
• Strong interaction and visual design skills with a portfolio showcasing completed work that balances creativity, usability, and business value.
• Skilled at communicating trade-offs, identifying risks, and influencing cross-functional decision-making.
• Ability to develop frameworks, playbooks, and tools that enhance design quality across the team.
• Comfortable leading design critiques, mentoring colleagues, and contributing to the design culture and operational excellence.
• Must be eligible to obtain or maintain US Government Security Clearance, with preference for those holding an active TS Clearance.
