This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

đź“‹ Description

• Act as the primary legal consultant for daily inquiries from the product and engineering teams regarding new features and builds that influence disclosures, data sharing, or customer experience.

• Create, evaluate, and manage consumer-facing agreements, online terms, and regulatory notices—utilizing established templates or assisting in their development.

• Assess marketing initiatives for legal adherence, including offer terms and conditions, promotional disclosures, sweepstakes regulations, and alterations to approved templates.

• Provide guidance on card network regulations (Visa, Mastercard, Amex) and network contracts, as well as their implications for transaction processing, dispute resolution, and product design.

• Offer practical legal advice on payment-related inquiries, encompassing settlement, payment processing, and funds flow architecture.

• Collaborate with Compliance on regulatory interpretation, monitoring, and preparation for examinations.

• Assist the Associate General Counsel with escalated complaints, regulatory inquiries, and matters involving bank partners.

• Engage in product reviews, sprint planning, and design sessions to identify legal considerations early in the development process.

• Simplify complex legal and regulatory requirements into straightforward, actionable guidance for cross-functional teams.


⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.

• 4–6 years of legal experience in the financial services sector—credit card experience is preferred; consumer deposit or lending, digital banking, payments, or fintech experience is also highly regarded.

• Knowledge of federal consumer finance regulations (TILA/Reg Z, ECOA/Reg B, EFTA/Reg E, FCRA, UDAAP, CAN-SPAM, TCPA) and their practical application to product and marketing.

• Proven experience in drafting and reviewing consumer-facing agreements, disclosures, and marketing content.

• Ability to work independently, manage projects from start to finish, prioritize competing demands, and provide clear legal advice within tight deadlines.

• Excellent communicator who regularly updates stakeholders and fosters relationships across teams—capable of conveying legal risks to engineers and regulatory nuances to CMOs with equal clarity.

• Willingness to conduct independent research and confirm findings with senior team members.
