This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• You will take ownership of our data warehouse and its reporting layer, establishing patterns for data modeling, evolution, and exposure.
• Your responsibilities include writing SQL and dbt models, refining transformations, and creating the tables and views that downstream teams depend on.
• You will engage proactively with various teams across the organization to comprehend how data is generated and utilized, identify gaps, and propose solutions.
• Collaborating with our DevX and architecture teams, you will work at the intersection of product engineering services and Snowflake.
• You will develop models, tests, and processes that foresee malformed data and upstream changes, ensuring our pipelines are straightforward to manage.
• Instrumenting what you manage, you will define meaningful SLOs and data quality checks, and be part of our rotating on-call schedule.
• You will take ownership of and enhance our Python jobs running on Glue, Lambda, and Step Functions.
• Partnering with junior engineers on actual projects, you will raise the standards for PR and architecture reviews, and establish the patterns and standards for the team's work.
• Over 10 years of experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, or related fields, functioning at a Principal or equivalent level.
• Profound expertise in relational database architecture and data modeling.
• Advanced proficiency in Snowflake and SQL, with experience managing a warehouse at scale.
• Strong background in analytics engineering, preferably with dbt.
• Solid hands-on experience with Python, including building data jobs on AWS Glue, Lambda, and Step Functions, as well as managing that infrastructure using AWS CDK.
• Experience with integrating third-party APIs in both directions, covering aspects like rate limits, retries, authentication, and idempotency.
• A proven history of developing observable and reliable data systems.
• Demonstrated technical leadership and mentorship capabilities, strong communication skills, systems thinking, and a successful record of engaging stakeholders across an organization to achieve cross-functional outcomes.
