Principal Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Design and implement comprehensive software solutions utilizing contemporary frameworks and design patterns that prioritize scalability, performance, and maintainability.

• Facilitate system design discussions for high-traffic applications, ensuring a robust architecture for mission-critical services.

• Assess, suggest, and execute architectural enhancements to improve scalability, observability, and resilience.

• Establish and maintain best practices regarding code quality, security, accessibility, and compliance with data privacy regulations.

• Lead intricate, cross-functional projects from their inception to completion, ensuring engineering solutions align with business objectives.

• Collaborate with product and business teams to articulate a technical vision and guarantee cohesive project execution.

• Supervise the technical rollout of new features and services, ensuring optimal utilization of system resources and infrastructure.

• Develop and sustain distributed systems using Spring Boot microservices, Docker, and Kubernetes.

• Design and fine-tune high-performance databases employing MySQL and Oracle, utilizing indexing and tuning strategies for enhanced efficiency.

• Implement and manage Redis for caching, Eureka Server for service registration, and the ELK Stack for monitoring and analytics.

• Configure Nginx and Apache for load balancing and ensuring high availability across production systems.

• Own and oversee CI/CD pipelines utilizing Jenkins for automated builds, testing, and deployments.

• Ensure system health and stability through proactive monitoring, logging, and alerting strategies.

• Propel advancements in deployment automation, infrastructure as code, and site reliability practices.

• Serve as a technical advisor and mentor, fostering the development of engineers’ skills in architecture, design, and problem-solving.

• Conduct code and design reviews to uphold engineering excellence.

• Collaborate effectively with senior leadership and cross-departmental stakeholders to shape company-wide technical initiatives.

• Cultivate a culture of innovation, ownership, and accountability throughout the engineering organization.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

• Over 10 years of experience in enterprise-level software development.

• Advanced proficiency in:

• Java, Spring Boot, Microservices Architecture

• MySQL, Oracle, and Redis

• React and modern front-end frameworks

• Docker, Kubernetes, and Jenkins CI/CD

• Linux/UNIX, Nginx, Apache, and ELK Stack

• In-depth understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design principles.

• Demonstrated ability to architect and deliver complex backend systems while mentoring technical teams.

• Strong collaboration capabilities with a proven ability to influence senior leaders and align various teams towards common goals.
